چکیده

Background: Bacteremia is the status, which detected via a positive blood culture test with no contamination. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that direct medical procedures total costs are significantly high. Antibiotic resistance can play major role in costs, related to long duration of treatment. Objectives: The aim this study was investigate rate profiles antimicrobial susceptibility isolates from Tehran, Iran. Methods: In current cross-sectional study, 5,000 samples were collected patients hospitalized Loghman General Hospital, Iran, results 2012 2013. Susceptibility agents analyzed using National Committee Clinical Laboratory Standards guidelines. Results: Coagulase-negative staphylococci (38.8%), Staphylococcus aureus (20.5%), Acinetobacter (11.9%), Escherichia coli (11.7%) most frequent bacteria isolated cultures, collectively accounting > 80% isolates. Of microorganisms, 63.75% 36.24% belonged Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria, respectively. Moreover, 88% MRSA (oxacillin-/methicillin-resistant), 7% VRE (vancomycin-resistant). Conclusions: organisms MDR (multi-drug resistance) obviously indicate misuse antibiotic society. surveillance studies Iran will be useful clinicians choose right empirical treatment help control prevent infections caused by resistant organisms.

Prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibilities of bacteria isolated from blood cultures of hospitalized patients in the United States

Background: Bloodstream infections are associated with significant patient morbidity and mortality. Antimicrobial susceptibility patterns should guide the choice of empiric antimicrobial regimens for patients with bacteremia. Methods: From January to December of 2002, 82,569 bacterial blood culture isolates were reported to The Surveillance Network (TSN) Database-USA by 268 laboratories. Suscep...

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Pattern of Staphylococcus aureus Strains Isolated from Hospitalized Patients in Tehran, Iran

Staphylococcus aureus is a major bacterial pathogen that causes different community- and hospital-acquired infections. Over time, strains of S. aureus have become resistant to different antibiotics including penicillinase-resistant penicillins. Having data on the local antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of this pathogen is necessary for selection of appropriate...

Antibiotic Resistance of the Isolated Bacteria from Blood Cultures of Cancer Patients

Abstract Background and Objective: One of the main causes of increased mortality in cancer patients is bacteremia. On the other hand, antibiotic resistance is the major cause of treatment failure in malignant diseases especially in hematological malignancies. The aim of this study was to diagnose the bacterial strains isolated from blood specimens of cancer patients and to determine their antib...

Trends in antimicrobial susceptibilities among Enterobacteriaceae isolated from hospitalized patients in the United States from 1998 to 2001.

Longitudinal surveillance of Enterobacteriaceae for antimicrobial susceptibility is important because species of this family are among the most significant and prevalent human pathogens. To estimate rates of in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility among hospitalized patients in the United States, data from The Surveillance Network were studied for 14 agents tested against 10 species of Enterobact...

Serotypes and antimicrobial susceptibilities of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated from hospitalized patients in Thailand.

Two hundred seven Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates were obtained from patients admitted to Siriraj Hospital. One hundred two, and 105 isolates were from sterile sites and non-sterile sites, respectively. They were serotyped by Quellung reaction with specific antisera from Statens Serum Institut; 81.6% of these pneumococci were typeable. These serotypes were included in the 23-valent pneumococc...
